After a few quiet weeks, we have a lot of movement in the top 10 this week. There are five new songs, including our new No. 1 song this week. Miss A’s latest hit “Hush” debuted only at No. 20 a week ago but moved up 19 spots to take over as our new No. 1 song, easily winning over last week’s No. 1 Trouble Maker’s “Now.” Miss A hasn’t hit No. 1 on our chart since “Touch” in March of last year. Congratulations.
“Hush” is the title song from miss A’s second full length album of the same name. Instead of working with their boss and long time producer JYP, “Hush” is written by E-Tribe and penned by E-Tribe and Min Yeon Jae. It has a different style than miss A’s past hits. The lyrics are about the joy of whispers and kisses between lovers.
Moving up 14 spots to No. 4 is increasingly popular rapper San E’s latest hit “Where Did You Sleep?” This is a pre-released single off his upcoming mini-album “Not Based on the True Story.” Co-composed by Fame-J and San E himself, this song is a fun hip-hop number with detailed lyrics written by San E, Verbal Jint, and Swings. The hilarious lyrics will make listeners laugh as if they are watching a comedy. San E is also partly responsible for the song just above him at No. 3 as he was the featured rapper on Park Ji Yoon’s “Mr. Lee.” Technically, he has two songs in the top five this week.
Big Bang’s Taeyang is coming back as a solo artist and his latest hit “Ringa Linga” moved up 18 spots to No. 6 this week. Written by Big Bang teammate G-Dragon, “Ringa Linga” is a powerful and sophisticated hip-hop number. Fans will fall in love with Taeyang’s R&B singing style.
The latest drama OST song to hit the top 10 is at No. 9. Sung Si Kyung’s remake of Seo Taiji’s “To You” moved up two spots into the top 10. This song is from tvN’s current hit drama “Reply 1994.” Its predecessor “Reply 1997” was one of the most beloved dramas last year. So far, “Reply 1994” has lived up to the expectation. This new version of “To You” has been rearranged with guitar and brass sounds filling Sung Si Kyung’s sweet and warm vocals.
Moving up 19 spots to score her second top 10 hits in as many tries is Yoo Sung Eun’s “Healing.” The song is of a blues-rock style that highlights Yoo Sung Eun’s powerful and unique voice. The witty lyrics are expected to heal those who are weary. Yoo Sung Eun will be one of the candidates to contest for the best new artist this year. Having another top 10 song will certainly help her chances.
